Logistics & luggage in Barcelona
Bus transport will be arranged to take you from Girona Bus Station to your selected technical visit in Barcelona and will return to Girona at the end of the visit. Participants have the flexibility to either stay in Barcelona or return to Girona.
For those choosing to remain in Barcelona after the visit, please note that you will be responsible for your own belongings once the group departs. While you can store your luggage on the bus during the technical visit, you must retrieve it before the coach returns to Girona.
Option 1. Sagrada Familia
The Sagrada Família represents one of the most innovative works in construction history. Designed by Antoni Gaudí, it combines advanced structural concepts with complex geometries and craftsmanship. Now largely completed, with its main structures finished and key towers nearing completion, it also serves as a living example of how traditional techniques integrate with modern technologies. The visit is especially significant in 2026, marking 100 years since the death of Gaudí.

Option 3. Visit to the construction works of the extension of Barcelona Metro Line 8
The extension of the L8 line of FGC (Baix Llobregat Metro) will connect Plaça Espanya with Gràcia, creating 4 km of new tunnel and three new stations (Hospital Clínic, Francesc Macià, and Gràcia) to link the Llobregat and Vallès lines. This project will improve connectivity between the metro and the tram system. The construction uses sequential excavation and TBM sections, deep diaphragm-wall stations with soft-eyes with GFRP reinforcement. The visit will cover one of the stations under construction.

Option 4. Visit to the construction works of Barcelona Metro Line 9
The Barcelona Metro Line 9 is one of the most ambitious underground infrastructure projects in Europe, notable for its large-diameter deep tunnel (12 m) and fully automated operation. Its construction showcases advanced tunneling techniques, including the use of high-performance tunnel boring machines operating at significant depths, as well as innovative station designs with large vertical shafts. The project offers valuable insights into complex geotechnical conditions, long tunnel logistics, and the integration of construction with automated transport systems. The visit will include a general overview of the design and construction of the line and a visit to one of the stations under construction.
